Tim Renner is a Director and Counsel on the Falcon Capital Advisors Digital Mortgage advisory team. He has over 15 years’ experience in the mortgage industry as an attorney and consultant. His work for the firm includes leading engagements with public and private sector mortgage industry clients to drive initiatives involving eClose/eMortgage program implementation and management, MERS compliance and operations, and eMortgage technology standardization and certification.
Renner is the project manager for the firm’s contract supporting the Ginnie Mae Digital Collateral Program, which is the federal program for securitization of eMortgages (i.e., mortgage loans consisting of an eNote). He chaired the MISMO eVault Standards Development Workgroup, producing the first set of mortgage industry standards governing technical, operational, and security aspects of eVaults used to store and transact with eNotes and other electronic records. He also led the development of MISMO certifications for eClose systems, remote online notarization platforms, and eVaults, and continues to serve on MISMO’s certification review team.
Prior to joining Falcon, Renner spent 10 years as in-house counsel to MERSCORP Holdings, the owner-operator of the MERS® System and MERS® eRegistry. His areas of responsibility included corporate governance, product releases, membership rules and procedures, training and appointment of MERS signing officers, mergers and acquisitions, failed bank receiverships, title issues, contested foreclosure and bankruptcy litigation, and membership compliance.
Renner holds a JD from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, an MA in International Politics from American University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida. He is admitted to the Maryland and Washington, DC, bars and holds an Associate MISMO Standards Professional (AMSP) certification.
